Staff Introductions

Sallie Evans

Early Years Lead for Reception and Nursery

Hi, my name is Sallie Evans and I am the reception class teacher and early years lead at Water Hall Primary.

I have been working in early years for over 30 years, caring for and educating children from the very youngest babies to the end of their foundation year. I also have experience throughout the primary age group but my love and passion is with early years . I started my career as a nursery nurse many years ago, before I studied to gain my early years teacher status.

I believe these qualifications really helped me to understand how children learn and develop and gave me the knowledge and skills to support them to achieve their full potential.

Linda Nash

Nursery Teacher

Hi, my name is Linda Nash and I am the qualified teacher in Nursery.

Over the last six years, I have worked in a variety of settings, teaching and supporting children from different backgrounds . I particularly enjoy working in early years because each day enables me an opportunity to tap into their unique understanding of the world around them. I believe children learn through play and providing an enabling environment helps them to flourish, grow in confidence and become more independent. I have a degree in B A (Hons) Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status, a certificate in ‘Paediatric First Aid’ and currently studying for a Level 2 certificate in ‘Counselling and Supporting Children’s Mental Health’.

Maria Sharp

Nursery Nurse

Hi, I’m Maria Sharp and I’m a Nursery Nurse at Water Hall Nursery.

I have worked with children for a total of 22 years with 20 of these being at Water Hall and most of my career has been working with 3-5 year olds.

I enjoy reading traditional stories to the children, teaching them the key phrases and actions to learn alongside the stories. I also like messy play, especially making playdough with the children and painting using different tools to show different skills.

I have held a ‘NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing’ since 1996 and I have a ‘Paediatric First Aid’ certificate that I keep updated.

"The teachers have helped my kids so much in their learning as well as helping bring them out of themselves! Since being at this school, my daughter is now almost a year ahead in her reading and my son, who is in nursery, is shocking us with what he can do! I genuinely cannot express how grateful I am to these wonderful teachers who will go above and beyond to help each pupil as an individual!"
